Primary Care Pediatrics: pediatric obesity prevention and management, the impact of screen time media exposure on children/adolescents, vaccine education and newborn care.
Dr. Lauren O’Hanlan earned her BSN in 2011 from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After graduation, she worked on a Medical-Surgical floor and then returned to Jefferson University Hospital in Center City to work as a staff nurse on their Telemetry-Oncology Unit. In 2015, she graduated from Jefferson’s MSN program specializing in pediatric primary care.
Dr. O’Hanlan is a nurse practitioner certified through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB). Her role as a CPNP-PC is to provide care to children from birth through young adulthood. This includes well child care as well as the prevention and management of common pediatric acute illness and chronic conditions.
Dr. O’Hanlan graduated with her DNP from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2019. Her Scholarly Practice Project was entitled: Implementation of Obesity Management Guidelines in a Pediatric Primary Care Clinic and received the ‘Best Poster Award’ at the 2019 Joint DNP Intensive hosted by the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She is currently working on submitting her manuscript for publication.
Dr. O’Hanlan is a proud member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau – Delta Rho and Epsilon Omega Chapters, the Alpha Eta Society and Phi Kappa Phi.
Dr. O’Hanlan has served as a clinical preceptor to nurse practitioner students and has taught BSN students in the clinical simulation laboratory.
Outside of teaching and working in clinic, Dr. O’Hanlan enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children. She is a huge Alabama football fan and enjoys traveling to the Outer Banks in North Carolina and spending time on her family’s farm in Roulette, Pennsylvania.
