Profile

David Kasparek teaches graphic design and digital art, which includes classes in typography, the union of type and image, graphic design and visual culture, motion design, and digital media design.

Professor Kasparek has worked in the field of graphic design for more than twenty years. Before coming to Messiah College, he was a full-time designer at Grafik Communications in Alexandra, Va., where he worked on various design projects such as corporate identity and branding campaigns, annual reports, and publications. During his time at Grafik he was also an adjunct faculty in Northern Virginia Community College's Visual Communications Department.

Professor Kasparek's teaching — as well as his ongoing personal and client-based work — focuses on utilizing design thinking to create meaningful visual form and address/solve communication problems through various media, digital tools, and processes.

His work has appeared in national and international publications such as Creative Anarchy: How to Break the Rules of Graphic Design, Design: Type: A Seductive Collection of Alluring Type Designs (Rockport), Design for Special Events: 500 of the Best Logos, Invitations, and Graphics (Rockport), The Big Book of Graphic Design (Collins Design), Graphic Design and Religion (GIA), Print Magazine, Typography 3: Global Vision (Duncan Baird Publishers), and Two-Color Graphics (Rockport). He has exhibited his work at various venues, including Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA, Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, and Biola University in La Mirada, CA (a joint exhibition with painter, Daniel Finch).
