Interest and areas of expertise

Rodney’s career has demonstrated his passion for audit and accounting. Through his experience at KPMG he had the opportunity to audit entities in various industries. Rodney then transitioned to HOPE International where he had the opportunity to oversee accounting operations both domestically and internationally. Through these experiences he learned to especially enjoy utilizing his capabilities within a global context. Rodney now looks forward to bringing the practical application of accounting and finance to the classroom in an engaging atmosphere.

Profile

Since graduating from the Messiah College Accounting Program in 2002, Rodney Sauder has led a distinguished career at both KPMG and HOPE International. Rodney earned his C.P.A. license upon graduation from Messiah College and completed his MBA at Shippensburg University in 2015.

While at the global accounting firm of KPMG Rodney was able to lead audit engagements at numerous businesses in a number of different industries, including manufacturing, not-for-profit, and government.

As the Finance Manager and then Manager of External Reporting at HOPE International, a Christ centered not-for-profit focused on microenterprise development, Rodney led many companywide initiatives. These initiatives included consolidation of international entities, annual audits, US GAAP adherence, compliance initiatives and entity creation. During his time with HOPE Rodney traveled and worked with staff in numerous countries including, Burundi, the Dominican Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Ukraine. One of Rodney’s proudest achievements was his key role in ensuring that HOPE was consistently a top rated not-for-profit per Charity Navigator, a widely respected charity evaluator.

Rodney is active in his church and community. He currently attends Harrisburg Brethren in Christ church where he volunteers in children’s ministry and is the Treasurer of the Board. He and his wife Dr. Molly Hayes Sauder (also a Messiah College alum) are the parents of three children.
