Profile

Dr. Jon Melton grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He enjoys reading (science fiction and books relating science and Christianity) and playing board games (classic ones such as backgammon and modern ones such as Ticket to Ride), mostly with family members. After graduating from high school, he attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa where he received a B.A. in Chemistry. He went on to do graduate work on the kinetics and mechanisms of transition metal complexes at Iowa State University where he completed his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry. Following a post-doc at Brookhaven National lab and a one-year teaching position at Baylor University, Dr. Melton joined the faculty of Messiah College in the fall of 1989.
