Profile

Dr. Zinsmeister has over 30 years of experience as a nurse educator of undergraduate and graduate nursing students.  Her areas of expertise include nursing research, informatics, nursing curriculum development and design, program assessment, post-traditional education, simulation education, critical care nursing, and gerontological nursing.  She earned a diploma in nursing from Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing, a BSN from Millersville University, a MS in Nursing from University of Delaware, and a PhD from Widener University.

Dr. Zinsmeister has been awarded the Excellence in Nursing Education Award by Lambda Kappa Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019, and was selected for inclusion in the fourth edition of Who’s Who in American Nursing and the latest edition of Who’s Who in American Professional Women.  She serves as a reviewer for several scholarly journals and holds a national certification from the National League for Nursing as a Certified Nurse Educator.

Dr. Zinsmeister chose to become a nurse educator so that she could share her passion and clinical expertise with the next generation of nurses.  She believes the success of the nursing students that she has helped to educate over the years is her greatest accomplishment.  Dr. Zinsmeister has been a nursing faculty member at Messiah since 1994.
