Profile

Dr. Joo received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 2015. His academic interests focus on the intersection of sport management and the sociology of sport. Since sport management is an applied science and a practice-oriented discipline, his focus is on applying classroom learning in real-world settings to provide students with practical learning experiences. His research interests include sport media, sport celebrity, and sport advertising campaigns. His dissertation, Consuming Sporting Orientals, was focused on Asian-American athletes’ crossover appeal, both in sports and business, and their endorsement power.
