Erin Herzog - ’20
Erin Herzog ’20 Psychotherapist for Callen Lorde Community Health Center

I got a job out of college working with older adults in supportive housing, then realized that wasn't for me. I have always thought about doing clinical work or therapy. When I saw a position at Callen Lorde, I saw it as a way to strengthen my skills as a social worker. I also enjoy working in the medical field and I enjoy the outpatient setting vs. a hospital. I [currently] provide psychotherapy to LGBTQ folks in an outpatient primary care setting for up to 6 months.

Messiah prepared me for the ASWB exam by teaching core concepts related to the profession, including competence, professionalism, and ethics. Messiah gave me a foundation of interpersonal skills that enabled me to work effectively with people.

Would you recommend Messiah's BSW program to future social workers? Why?

Absolutely. The BSW is fully accredited and offers a faith based perspective into the world of social work.
