Now, I am at Venetucci Elementary School in Widefield School District 3, where I teach in a district specific special education program for those with communication, behavior, and social needs. I am teaching in the WISC Program, Widefield Inclusive Socialization and Communication Program. It is a center based special education classroom, that specializes in teaching students with mild to moderate disabilities that have BIP's. With the goal to push them into inclusive settings to build social, behavioral, and communication skills- the position has been a stretching experience and taught me to view all behavior as a form of communication!
My time at Messiah certainly built my ability to see children with disabilities as loved by God and capable to understand his love through my teaching. What I enjoyed most about Messiah's Education program is that my professors modeled God's love in their practice and invested in my learning because of that loved, which equipped me to do the same in my own practice.
