I am a 7th grade English teacher at Mountain View Middle School in Cumberland Valley School District, and I just graduated from Messiah in May '23!
Messiah prepared me for my teaching career in so many ways. Through Messiah, I was able to grow so much during my time student-teaching as I learned what it meant to be a full-time teacher and the responsibilities that it requires. I also learned how to write a very thorough lesson plan, which really helped me to think more intentionally about my lesson plans as a teacher.
The Teacher Education Program at Messiah was phenomenal; I felt truly prepared to teach when I graduated, which was such a good feeling since I was hired at Mountain View three months before graduation. TEP also taught me how to handle many different student situations, and has prepared me for some of the obstacles that I have encountered.
My favorite part about being a Messiah student was the independence that I grew into from freshman year to senior year, as well as the relationships I formed with my English and Education professors. But most importantly, I am just very thankful that my studies at Messiah helped me land my dream job!
