This exhibit is part of “Remembering, Rejoicing, Reflecting: A Centennial Celebration of Rachel Helen Flowers, 1918-2018”, a series of events celebrating the centennial graduation of Rachel Helen Flowers, the first African American student to enroll at Messiah College. The exhibit, “What Have You to Say?: The Activism of Rachel Helen Flowers" highlights Flowers' activism and participation within the Black middle-class of Philadelphia during the early and mid-twentieth century. Other exhibit elements illuminate Flowers’ early years in Florida and her time at Messiah Bible School and Missionary Training Home from 1916-1918.
