This performance is part of “Remembering, Rejoicing, Reflecting: A Centennial Celebration of Rachel Helen Flowers, 1918-2018”, a series of events celebrating the centennial of the graduation of Rachel Helen Flowers, the first African American student to enroll at Messiah College. Composed by W. Roy Mitchell, the selections from the Rachel Flowers Suite will be performed by professors and students within the college’s Department of Music. The suite will be narrated by Adriene Russell, Messiah College, Class of 2012. A dessert reception will immediately follow the performance.
