What's New for 2020-2021?

This section provides a brief summary of policy changes and updates (since last year) that you will find below, and in other publications.

  • Due to the educational disruptions created by the COVID-19 pandemic, Messiah University has decided not to enforce any GPA requirements for the renewal of our institutional academic scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year.  This means that a student who received a scholarship during the 2019-2020 academic year will automatically receive the scholarship during the 2020-2021 academic year, regardless of the GPA earned during the 2019-2020 academic year.    Here are a few important points about which all students should be aware:

    • This “GPA Holiday” applies only to the 2020-2021 academic year.  Student’s receiving a scholarship during the 2020-2021 academic year will need to achieve the required GPA for their particular scholarship in order to have the scholarship renewed for the 2021-2022 academic year.  Each student has received past messages detailing the GPA requirements for their particular scholarship(s).

    • This holiday applies only to the GPA requirements for institutional academic scholarships.  Satisfactory Academic Progress (as outlined in the links below) is still required for the receipt of all forms of financial aid, including these scholarships.

    • Messiah University cannot waive the requirements of programs provided by outside entities, so any GPA (or other) requirements by state, federal or other outside program providers must still be met.
