Welcome to the Intercultural Office where you will take the first step to a journey that will change your life. Whether you choose to study in Asia, Europe, or Africa OR participate in a discipline specific program in the United States, be prepared for a faith-enhancing, life-changing experience.

First Steps in the Journey

Explore your options

  • Browse online (see links to the left for semester-long and short-term cross cultural courses.)Stonehenge

  • Make an appointment in the Intercultural Office; call X2131 or e-mail or choose an appointment on our online appointment schedule.
  • Contact Lydia Skulstad immediately to let them know you plan to study abroad.

This is especially relevant for international students. Here are some things you need to consider:

Students holding F1 Visas

  • Need to have both their visas and their passports valid through the duration of their trip.
  • Renewing F1 visas sometimes requires that students return to their home country, so plan carefully.
  • When boarding your flight back to the US after your study abroad experience, you will need to have a passport valid for at least six months in the future.

Obtaining a Visa to Study Abroad

Visas for international students sometimes take longer to process. So START EARLY.

  • Once your flight is confirmed, check to make sure you do not need a transit visa for any place you may fly through on the way to your final destination.
  • Work with our program partners who will be happy to walk you through the visa process. In some cases, you will need to consult the embassy of the country in which you will be studying.
  • If you are having difficulty with the visa process, you may want to work with a visa processing company. There is a fee for this service.
