Billing procedures

Billing Procedures at Messiah University

Student billing is electronic. Bills through CashNet will be announced by email to the student as they become available in mid-July for the Fall Semester, in mid-November for the Spring Semester, and in early May for the Summer sessions. These initial bills will be based on course registration and financial aid information available to Student Financial Services at the time of the bill. Financial aid that is known at the time of the billing will be listed as anticipated financial aid. However, the financial aid award payment must actually be received before it is credited to the student account.

eBills are released weekly during the Fall and Spring semesters detailing updated adjustments.  Students can access their live student account at any time online through the Self Service Menu, select the Student tab, Student Account, Account Detail Listing. This online student account detail shows the current balance.

The tuition, course specific fees, student activity fee, student service fee, and room and board charges for the spring semester include January term, spring term and May term.

Students can give parents access to view the live student account detail by logging on to the Self Service Menu, select the Student tab, Parent Access Authorization.

Note about financial aid

Anticipated financial aid (e.g. student loans, private scholarships and grants) is shown on the initial bill of each semester as a credit, as if it has already paid to the account. However it is up to the student to follow through on any financial aid requirements such as accepting Terms and Conditions, completing loan applications and their requirements, submission of scholarship letters to Financial Aid, verification requests by FAFSA, the State or the Financial Aid department at Messiah and requirements by organizations awarding non-institutional scholarships. After the initial bill for each semester, financial aid that has not yet paid to the student account may result in additional amounts owed. Outstanding balances carried beyond the due date are subject to a finance charge of 1.25% per month.

Summer Sessions and Independent Study Courses
