Dr. Rohrbaugh grew up in Lancaster as a member of the Lancaster BIC congregation. He graduated from Millersville University with majors in Russian and Computer Science, and then went on to earn an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas, where his research focused on formal models for the semantics of natural language. After a brief time in software development, he has held academic positions at Messiah College and California Baptist University. He joined the department full time in 2007. His teaching interests include programming and programming languages, data structures & algorithms, artificial intelligence, and the ethics of technology. Gene, his wife Ann, and their four children live in Mechanicsburg and are members of the Mechanicsburg BIC church.
