Music for Piano Times Two III to perform Sept. 15

Music for Piano Times Two III to perform Sept. 15

Inspired by the 150th anniversary of the great novel “War and Peace” by Leo Tolstoy, this first of two programs focuses on Tolstoy’s love of the piano, as well as the deep historical connections between the Russian and French cultures which produced some of the world’s greatest achievements in the arts. Stuart Malina, artistic director of the Harrisburg Symphony, and Richard Roberson, dean of the Messiah College School of the Arts, will join piano faculty Patrice Ewoldt and Ya-Ting Chang to perform music for two pianos by Chopin, Chaminade, Milhaud and Debussy, and will conclude with Tchaikovsky’s iconic “1812 Overture.”

Listen to a From the Dean's Office podcast interview with Peter Sirotin, who developed the War and Peace theme, and three of the pianists as they discuss the ideas behind the War and Peace theme, and the pieces they have chosen for the concert.
