Messiah University’s Registered Nurse (RN) to Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program is designed for RNs to have a clear path from their Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) to earn both a Messiah University bachelor’s and master’s degree in either the nursing administration or nurse educator track. Our professional nursing curriculum is grounded in the arts and applied sciences which nurtures and improves the student’s ability to practice nursing with compassionate Christian caring, academic and clinical excellence and service to others with cultural humility.

Program overview

Messiah University’s accredited online RN to MSN degree programs are designed for working professionals who are seeking to obtain their master’s degree in either the nursing administration or nurse educator track. Prepare yourself to successfully lead at the nurse manager and executive levels with our MSN nursing administration track, or prepare yourself to be a nurse educator uniquely equipped to lead and teach in a variety of both education and clinical settings with our MSN nurse educator track.

An RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is also available.

RN to MSN Tuition Cost

$710 per credit*, no-fee tuition

Know what you are paying for with Messiah’s no-fee tuition. With our online RN to MSN degree program, the cost per credit is what you pay – there are no hidden fees for labs, courses, services or technology. We put the true cost of your program upfront so that you can accurately compare and plan for your education.

*A total of 120 undergraduate credit hours is required for a student to proceed to graduate-level status. The number of undergraduate credit hours a student is required to complete at Messiah University will be determined upon an evaluation of his/her transcript. For the RN to MSN program, the tuition for undergraduate courses is $400 per credit hour.

Online students are eligible to apply for federal financial aid.

Application requirements

  • Completed application
  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions. 
  • Earned Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
  • Minimum GPA of a 3.0 or higher
  • Personal statement of purpose
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Resume
  • Proof of active, unencumbered RN license verifiable via Nursys or State Board of Nursing (BON)
  • For RN to MSN Nurse Educator: Minimum of one year of recent professional nursing practice prior to taking NURS 520.
  • For RN to MSN Nursing Administration: Minimum of one year of recent professional nursing practice prior to taking NURS 560.
