Public History Concentration at Messiah College

The public history concentration is ideal for students interested in how the study of the past engages and connects the public today. Messiah College’s public history concentration is one-of-a-kind; traditional history coursework is complemented by examination of digital history and interdisciplinary study of graphic design, web development, public relations writing and photography, for example. An internship is required for the public history concentration. Coursework is enriched by opportunities to work with professors on research; intern at museums, historical archives and governmental agencies; study abroad for a semester and shorter term; teach in local schools; and train in archaeology locally and abroad.
