Prof Meg RameyMeg Ramey

Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies

I am joining the department from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, where I have been working on my Ph.D. in Divinity.  There, I also enjoyed serving as the youth director at St. Andrews Episcopal Church and occasionally traveled to many of the beautiful sites in Scotland and in Europe.  A South Carolina native, I completed my B.A. in Spanish at Furman University in 2000.

After a brief stint teaching Spanish at a high school in my hometown of Florence, S.C., I moved to Venezuela, where I worked under the auspices of the International Mission Board, first helping with disaster relief efforts on the Venezuelan coast and later assisting with a prison ministry, ESL classes, and a new church on the Island of Margarita. In 2002, I returned to the States to study at Truett Seminary, Baylor University, for a Masters of Divinity with a concentration in counseling, which I received in 2005 before moving to Scotland.

My current research interests include portrayals of Jesus within modern literature (particularly novels that function as Gospel rewrites), the Gospel of Matthew, and narrative criticism.
