Food

We aim to grow, serve, and eat food that supports healthy bodies, healthy communities and healthy ecosystems

Our hope is to achieve this through collaboration with various other departments.

For example, NetNutrition® assists students with nutritional data which provides information regarding the food served on campus as well as helps keep track of ingredients used in order to filter our foods containing allergens and/or intolerances.

The dining services here on campus which include Lottie Nelson Dining Hall, The Union Cafe, The Falcon and Cafe Diem are all committed to serving a variety of food groups to ensure that students have ample access to a balanced and energy filled diet each day to suit their needs whether it be fuelling up for a game, keeping track of nutrition, grabbing a flat bread on the go or studying for long periods of time.

Description

With the amount of produce that the garden grows each summer, its no spurprise that apart from selling to the community, we also sell to Lottie Nelson Dining Hall. Its a great feeling knowing that the squash or zucchini that they've used for the day's meal was grown and harvested right here on campus.

Thanks to efforts by Danielle Chun '17, our very own Lottie Nelson dining hall, in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability implemented the Food Recovery Network which aims to save any left over food that has not been served and instead frozen and later donated to Bethesda Mission in Harrisburg.
