GRANTHAM, Pa. (Aug. 24, 2006) — Back by popular demand, the Eric Mintel Jazz Quartet returns to Messiah College on Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. in Miller Auditorium in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center, located on the college’s Grantham campus, for the opening performance of the 2006-2007 Cultural Series. Tickets can be purchased for $20 at the door or by calling the Messiah College ticket office at (717) 691-6036. With 13 years of music-making in a variety of venues, including numerous jazz festivals, the Kennedy Center, college and university campuses and the White House, the Eric Mintel Jazz Quartet never fails to deliver an energetic, lyrical, swinging and always-entertaining performance to its audiences. In May, the quartet was the featured guest on Marian McPartland’s “Piano Jazz,” aired on National Public Radio. One of the finest jazz quartets in the country today, the ensemble includes accomplished musicians Eric Mintel on piano, Dave Mohn on bass, Nelson Hill on alto saxophone and Dave Antonow on bass. Displaying the striking creativity and versatility of its members, the group performs original jazz compositions by Mintel, as well as new interpretations of classic jazz pieces. The Cultural Series is a public, five-part annual performance series sponsored by Messiah College. In addition to the Eric Mintel Jazz Quartet, concerts by other acclaimed groups ZUM on Oct. 16, Cherish the Ladies on Dec. 11, Bay Street Brassworks on Feb. 23, and The Princely Players on March 2 will be held throughout the 2006-2007 season. Season subscriptions to the Cultural Series are available for $85 until Sept. 15.
