CONTACT: Beth L. Lorow Jazz artist Tim Warfield to play at Messiah College in honor of visiting sculptor Thaddeus Mosley
GRANTHAM, Pa. (Jan. 2, 2007) On Jan. 19, Messiah College’s department of music will sponsor a coffee hour in honor of visiting artist Thaddeus Mosley, whose sculptures are on display until Jan. 28 in the Aughinbaugh Art Gallery in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on the college’s Grantham campus. All are invited to attend the coffee hour free of charge; no reservations or tickets are necessary. The event will begin at 8 p.m. in the Larsen Student Union. Patrons will have a chance to meet Mosley as well as enjoy the jazz music of Tim Warfield, a Messiah College artist-in-residence, and his jazz quartet. The quartet—consisting of Warfield on saxophone, Jeff Stabley on drums, Steve Meashy on bass and Kirk Reese on piano—already enjoys local popularity, and Warfield’s personal talents have won him international acclaim. During his musical career, he has been in and out of many different jazz groups, toured countries worldwide, worked with other talented musicians, made several popular recordings, and won a number of awards as well as plenty of recognition and praise. His jazz expertise makes him uniquely fitted for providing the evening’s entertainment, as Mosley himself is a jazz aficionado and is often listed as an artist whose pieces evoke jazz themes. Mosley will share anecdotes and reflections from his long career in art during an interlude in the quartet’s set. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided free of charge for all those who wish to attend. Though no reservations are necessary, seating will be limited and early arrival is recommended. For those who wish to visit Mosley’s exhibit, the Aughinbaugh Art Gallery hours are as follows: Mon.-Thurs. - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Fri. - 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sun. - 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls nearly 2,800 undergraduate students in 60 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia. # # # ARTICLE DATE: TUESDAY, JANUARY 2, 2007
