Master of Education - Education with Teaching Certification (PK-12 or 7-12)

If you are interested in pursuing a career as a teacher, Messiah’s PK-12 and secondary education tracks are designed for those who have a bachelor’s degree in a field other than education who wish to pursue teaching certification. This includes individuals who are currently teaching in private and/or charter schools as well as those working in other fields. Students who are able to secure a full-time or long-term substitute teaching position while pursuing their teaching certification may apply for the Pennsylvania intern certification program

PK-12 or Secondary Education overview

Messiah’s Master of Education with degree tracks in PK-12 or secondary education prepares individuals with a bachelor’s degree in an area other than education to pursue a career as a teacher and to sit for the PA Level I teaching certification examination in 1 of 15 content areas.

The curriculum for the M.Ed. in PK-12 or secondary education is designed for busy professionals and includes both theory and field experiences. See the program core requirements below.

No-fee tuition

With Messiah’s no-fee tuition, there are no additional university charges for labs, courses, services or technology. While some programs may involve additional expenses such as materials, travel or other external costs that vary by student, you won’t encounter unexpected fees from Messiah. This approach allows you to clearly understand and plan for the tuition portion of your graduate education.

Deferred billing

2026-2027

No-fee tuition per graduate credit hour: $820

Tuition cost for the entire program at the 2026-2027 rate: ranges from $24,600 (30 credits) to $63,960 (78 credits)

M.Ed. students are eligible to apply for federal financial aid. Tuition is subject to annual adjustment; historically, increases have averaged approximately 2-3% per year.
