Welcome to Student Employment at Messiah!
Messiah uses an online records management (onboarding) system to collect all hiring paperwork. Upon hire, new student employees will receive an email communication from the Oracle job system with a link to your onboarding journey. The onboarding journey should be completed before or during the first week of employment. The onboarding journey can also be accessed directly from your Oracle account.
New to Employment:
If this is your first time working on campus, be sure to come to campus prepared with the proper ID documents. This is important as you will not be able to start your job until the I-9 form is complete.
In addition to the forms found on the onboarding checklist, you will need to complete an I-9 form. This form is required by federal law to verify identity and eligibility for employment. All new student employees must complete the I-9 form in person with your supervisor or the Student Employment Office. Section 1 of the I-9 must be completed by no later than the first day of employment. Section 2 must be completed within 3 days. In order to complete Section 2, you must show original (photocopies and scans not accepted), unexpired identification documents. Examples of acceptable ID documents include (1) Passport or (2) Photo ID & Social Security Card or (3) Photo ID and birth certificate. See page 3 of the I-9 form for the entire list of acceptable ID documents. (View full I-9 Instructions.)
Returning Employee:
If you have worked on campus previously, but are switching to a new job, you do not need to complete the I-9 form again. You will, however, receive an onboarding journey to complete for the new job assignment. The onboarding journey should be completed before or during the first week of the new job assignment.
