If you have a deep commitment to understanding health trends that affect populations across the globe, the global health and development program at Messiah University may be an excellent fit for you. This program equips students to examine the complex social, economic, environmental and spiritual factors that shape health outcomes around the world. Drawing from public health, development studies and the social sciences, students learn to evaluate policies and apply evidence-based strategies that promote health equity, sustainability and effective problem-solving.
Rooted in Messiah’s mission of service, reconciliation and global engagement, the program empowers students to use their knowledge and skills to make meaningful impact–locally and globally. If you are passionate about improving health through the training of community health workers, addressing the conditions that produce poor health, helping communities overcome poverty or addressing issues of societal injustice, this major can help you to move your passion and curiosity into meaningful action.

Learning in the classroom is important but actually applying that knowledge in a hands-on way can make all the difference. At Messiah University, the Experiential Learning Initiative (ELI) allows Messiah to take this hands-on learning to a new level by giving students the opportunity to apply what they have learned to various real world contexts--such as an internship/practica, service learning, off-campus program, holding a student leadership position, or participating in undergraduate research.
