Public Health Program in Pennsylvania

Are you interested in working in an interdisciplinary field that works to limit health disparities by promoting healthcare equity, quality and accessibility?

Study Public Health at a Christian University

Public health is a growing field with higher than average growth expected in the next decade, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Messiah’s mission and commitment to biblical justice and the ‘common good’ make the public health minor an excellent fit for those wishing to apply evidence in health science toward the goal of helping individuals and communities improve holistic health.

In the program, you will apply knowledge of epidemiology and statistics to human health and disease prevention strategies; study key determinants of health, including biological, behavioral, social, policy and cultural influences; identify health disparities and population-level solutions; and integrate strategies of health management within a practical learning experience. The public health minor includes an embedded experiential learning experience through an urban healthcare practicum with the Baltimore Urban Studies Program.

Messiah's unique approach to hands-on learning

Learning in the classroom is important but actually applying that knowledge in a hands-on way can make all the difference. At Messiah University, the Experiential Learning Initiative (ELI) allows Messiah to take this hands-on learning to a new level by giving students the opportunity to apply what they have learned to various real world contexts--such as an internship/practica, service learning, off-campus program, holding a student leadership position, or participating in undergraduate research.
