"The Young Writer's Workshop was so great! I enjoyed growing as a writer and improving my skills, but I also loved learning about the college experience by staying in the dorms, eating in the dining hall, and walking around campus. The RAs were excellent and I really appreciated their conversations, caring attitudes, and positivity. While this camp made me step out of my comfort zone, I always knew I was in good hands. I really enjoyed the talent show, hearing from an author, and writing poetry on the nature trail. My experience this year was fantastic and I am excited to see where my writing journey will take me in the coming years"!

"I'll admit, I was terrified to come to this camp. Once I got here, though, I met my amazing roommate, a great group of like-minded friends, a knowledgeable and experienced instructor, caring RA's and surprisingly good food. This camp helped me grow so much as a writer, and I was raving to my friend all week about it. If you are considering coming to this camp, please do it. It is a thoroughly enjoyable taste of the college experience and helped me to get out of my comfort zone as a writer and as a person. It was an all-around great experience, and I am definitely considering coming back next year for more learning and fun"!

My favorite event was an author visit where I learned about what it was like to be an author and publish one's work. Further, the people I met were kind and lively. From the instructors, staff, RA's, to classmates, the people were awesome. Above all, it wasn't just a place to learn and gain logical knowledge, it was a safe space were I could have fun, share my writings, and see the many different types of writers there are. It showed me that, like a musician or athlete, a writer needs practice! I got to befriend experienced writers, those just starting out, and everyone in between. I know I definitely got to meet some future famous writers and I'm proud to have been in the same class as them. It was a great experience and I would love to come back next year"

The Q & A with the author was very informative and I got a lot of knowledge from it. It was nice to have a community of writers that I could turn to for support and constructive criticism regarding my work. "Young Writer's Workshop has taught me a lot about the writing process and everything that comes with it. I'm glad that even though we couldn't attend the camp on campus there was structure and a sense of community. My favorite part of the camp was reading other people's stories and having them comment on my piece- without the comments from my peers and the instructors the camp wouldn't be all that it is. Throughout the week we were guided through writing our stories. From brainstorming to publishing, no detail was missed. Towards the beginning of the week we read short stories by other authors and that helped as well. I'm so grateful that I could attend this year and have another one of my works published!! Messiah College Writing Workshop was a great experience. I was able to meet new friends, who I quickly ended up having every meal with and spending my free time in their dorms as we all talked and laughed. While it was a great place to make friends, it was also a place to extend my knowledge of writing, and learning to write in ways I never had before. We were all definitely challenged and definitely didn't have any trouble using up notebook space, but it made us all better. The teachers were great, the counselors were so much fun, and we even got to take a field trip and have a talent show. It may only be a short, but you learn and accomplish so much in those 4-5 days. If you are a hardworking writer who would also like to make some new friends, I recommend Messiah's Writing Workshop!!"
