Messiah College's communication and broadcasting programs are liberal arts majors and minors that give students an extensive education in preparation for a variety of professional communication fields.
Graduates serve and work in public relations, broadcasting, marketing, film production, news production, non-profit vocations, internal and external corporate communication, and mass media. Our program also aims to prepare students for graduate study by providing a firm foundation of professionalism and academic excellence.
Students will learn to effectively communicate through a variety of media. There is a heavy emphasis on writing skills since this is the foundation for successful communication.
Additionally, students will be exposed to various elements of media culture that have influenced the study and application of modern communication.
The communication major includes three concentrations: public relations; film and digital media; communication studies. The department also offers a major in broadcasting. Students will take a core curriculum of communication classes as well as specific courses which focus on the concentration of their choice.
