Dr. Karen J. Durbin teaches in the area of Christian Music Studies. She brings the experience of sixteen years as the Minister of Music and Worship for the Grantham Brethren in Christ Church where she developed and led an active worship arts ministry and mentored college student interns in worship ministry. In addition to teaching at Messiah College, Karen developed and now facilitates the directed study course in corporate worship for the Brethren in Christ denomination. She has served as a worship consultant for several institutions and has provided a variety of workshops and lectures in various styles of corporate worship including Taizé worship. As a private music studio teacher, Karen participated with the Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association as a member and adjudicator. Dr. Durbin earned her Masters and Doctoral degrees from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies. She received her undergraduate degree in Music Education from Messiah College with an applied emphasis in clarinet, and holds a certificate in church music from Lebanon Valley College.
