Information for employees

Non-Essential, Hourly Employees

Non-essential staff (hourly) employees may be asked to work remotely during the closed period as outlined below:

  1. Limited-Hour (Less-than-1,000-hour) hourly employees are NOT eligible for closed time.  Only report hours actually worked as those hours would normally be reported.
  2. If the supervisor confirms remote work is possible for an employee’s scheduled hours, the employee should continue to work remotely and record time as “Regular” hours.  Non-essential employees do not receive additional pay for working during this period of time. If an employee is unable to work, personal time (or vacation time if no personal time remains) should be reported.
  3. If the supervisor confirms remote work is not possible for an employee’s scheduled hours, the employee should report unworked scheduled hours during the closure as “Closed.”

Administrative Employees

Administrative employees, by the nature of their salaried assignment, will be paid for delay or closed time.  However, administrative employees are typically expected to work remotely during the closed period.  If an employee is unable to work, personal time (or vacation time if no personal time remains) should be reported.
