Position:
Tech Crew Team Member (8 position available)
Position Summary:
The Tech Crew Team Member is responsible for supporting the technical requirements for all college functions and events by setting up and operating sound, lighting, and A/V equipment.
Hours Required:
This position requires a flexible schedule as hours will vary week by week. Tech Crew Team Members can expect to work anywhere from 5 hours up to 20 hours per week with an average of about 10 hours per week. Required work times include Monday nights from 10 to 11pm, Wednesday nights from 9 to 10pm, and during chapels on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Dress Requirements:
Dress requirements will vary based on the type of event. Closed toe shoes must be worn at all times. Some events will require a shirt and tie for guys and a blouse and skirt/dress pants for girls.
Skills, Characteristics, and Experience Required:
- Must have experience in the areas of sound and lighting and demostrate technical proficiency
- Must be willing and able to learn how to operate and maintain sound and lighting equipment
- Must have experience in the area of customer service
- Must be flexible and able to take direction well
- Must work well under pressure and remain calm in stressful situations
- Independence, self-motivation, common sense, and creativity are desirable qualities for the position
Special Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work from heights while standing on a ladder or a lift
- Ability to work long hours including early mornings and/or late nights
- Tech Crew Team Members must take a college administered driving test to obtain their 15-passenger van license
Primary Duties:
- Set-up, operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and teardown of various lighting, sound, and video equipment for chapels, concerts, lectures, banquets, and other college events.
- Organization and preparation of all technical equipment.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment as needed.
- Transportation of sound, lighting, and video equipment around campus.
- Maintain inventory and organization of multiple storage facilities.
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
Secondary Duties:
- Assist the Sound & Lighting Technical Coordinator, Sound & Lighting Technician, and Event Assistants as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
