GRANTHAM, Pa. (Aug. 16, 2005) — Messiah College’s student activities board will present a concert featuring Rilo Kiley on Sept. 2 at 8 p.m. in Brubaker Auditorium in the Eisenhower Campus Center on the college’s Grantham campus. Tickets are general admission and cost $15 ($5 with a Messiah College identification card). For more information or to purchase tickets, call the Messiah College ticket office at (717) 691-6036.

This four-person indie rock band began in 1998 and has gained more popular attention through the years. Their newest album, “More Adventurous,” was called “the tightest thing to emerge from the indie rock petri dish in years” by “Time Magazine.” Rilo Kiley includes lead singer Jenny Lewis who also plays acoustic guitar with Blake Sennett, bassist Pierre de Reeder and drummer Jason Boesel.

Rilo Kiley self-released “More Adventurous” on their new label, “Brute/Beaute Records.” On their website, Rilo Kiley describe “More Adventurous” as “an album full of uplifting songs of heartbreak, traditional pop from the future, country music from the city and all other manners of oxymoronic perfection.” The band has performed at sold-out shows across the country and has toured Europe.
