GRANTHAM, Pa. (Sept. 23, 2005) — The Messiah College Department of Music will present JazzONE and JazzTWO in an evening jazz concert on Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. in Miller Auditorium, located in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center on the college’s Grantham campus. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call (717) 766-2511, extension 3310. Under the direction of William Stowman, chair of the music department and a professor of music, the college’s big bands, JazzONE and JazzTWO, will perform a number of jazz selections. With the release of their new CD, “Swing Sweet Spirit,” JazzONE has been actively performing in local churches as well as on campus to deliver a blend of big band style with sacred themes. The band has added the touch of jazz to favorite hymns, and many audiences have appreciated this distinctive style. Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,900 undergraduate students in 50 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg.
