GRANTHAM, Pa. (Sept. 25, 2006) — The Messiah College Cultural Series will present ZUM in concert on Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. in Miller Auditorium in the Climenhaga Fine Arts Center, located on the college’s Grantham campus. With ZUM’s intoxicating harmonies and rhythmic power, Messiah College brings “Big-City Culture Just Minutes from Home” to central Pennsylvania. Tickets can be purchased for $20 at the door or by calling the Messiah College ticket office at (717) 691-6036. Since its debut in 2001, ZUM has captivated audiences with its unique mix of Eastern European gypsy fiddle music and Argentinean tango adding sophisticated threads of jazz connected with celtic, salsa, bluegrass, klezmer, Arabic and calypso to create a stunning new sound. The talented group has performed at numerous major music festivals throughout the UK and Europe, and is a five-time sell-out at the South Bank in London. The ensemble includes accomplished musicians Adam Summerhayes on violin, David Gordon on piano, Chris Grist on cello, Eddie Hession on accordion and Jani Pensola on bass. Displaying incredible musicianship and talent, ZUM performs ‘Nuevo Tango’ masterpieces by Astor Piazzolla, as well as adding their own passionate original material, inspired by both gypsy and tango, to create music that is moving to all audiences. The Cultural Series is a public, five-part annual performance series sponsored by Messiah College. In addition to ZUM, concerts by other acclaimed groups, Cherish the Ladies on Dec. 11, Bay Street Brassworks on Feb. 23 and The Princely Players on March 2 will be held throughout the 2006-2007 season. Messiah College, a private Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences, enrolls more than 2,800 undergraduate students in 50 majors. Established in 1909, the primary campus is located in Grantham, Pa., near the state capital of Harrisburg. A satellite campus affiliated with Temple University is located in Philadelphia.# # # ARTICLE DATE: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2006
