Student Leadership

Shared Leadership

Shared professional-student leadership is a core strategy for mentoring in the Collaboratory.

A primary task of an advisor is to develop student leaders to assume responsibility and transfer authority and responsibility that is commensurate with students' maturity and ability.

Advisors work to cultivate an attitude of humility among student leaders and workers.

Advisors help students build a relationship with their partners based around service and a mind set that both parties will benefit from the project. Such humility is of course a lifelong lesson.

Student Leadership Positions:

Student Project Managers:

Student Project Managers (SPMs) lead our Collaboratory projects alongside the Project Manager (PM). Project Managers are often full-time faculty members, while SPMs are students either in the junior or senior year.

Collaboratory Student Board:

Members of the Student Board are a vital way the Collaboratory staff stays connected with the students working on projects. These members support SPMs and volunteers, plan social gatherings to build community, and plan special outreach events.

Collaboratory Chapel Leaders:

CCLs facilitate discussion and are spiritual mentors for the Collaboratory's discipleship program. These leaders value building relationships and encouraging their peers' connection with God

Leaders Workshop Schedule

The leaders workshop is an annual event held the week prior to the beginning of fall semester classes. The workshop offers training to students and professionals working on a Collaboratory project while providing teams with time and resources to begin planning for the year.
