Assistant Professor of Nursing
Assistant Professor of Nursing
Upon completion of her BSN from Bloomsburg University in 2009, Melissa Laidacker quickly embraced her love of women’s health. As she gained confidence in maternal/newborn nursing, she found great joy in mentoring new nurses and became certified as an inpatient obstetrical nurse. Between 2012 and 2013, Melissa taught practical nursing students in both didactic and clinical environments.
After navigating the emotional journey of her family’s personal pregnancy and infant losses, Melissa felt a greater calling to advanced practice nursing. Upon completion of her MSN from Drexel University and board certification as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in 2015, she channeled her energy and empathy into the obstetrical and gynecologic care of women across the lifespan in outpatient OB/GYN settings. She became certified as a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner in 2019 to better meet her patients' needs.
In March 2024, Melissa began pursuit of her DNP in Nursing Leadership with Messiah University, with goals to inspire and lead within the nursing profession. Her DNP project aims to improve midlife women’s quality of life through the implementation of a midlife health educational support group. Pending her academic success and by God’s grace, she plans to graduate with her DNP from Messiah University in May 2026.
Melissa lives in Liverpool, PA with her husband, son, daughter, and golden retriever. In her free time, she is often driving her children to their activities, floating on her family's pontoon in the summer, or crafting something. She loves to crochet, plan celebrations, travel, and decorate!
In both her student and employee roles with Messiah University, she has witnessed God’s service, love, and mission within this amazing community. Melissa is excited to teach among this fantastic team and allow God to use her hands to mold the future of healthcare while maintaining clinical practice as a nurse practitioner.
