Associate Professor of Social Work, Social Work Field Director
Michelle George is an Associate Professor of Social Work and serves as the Field Director for the Department of Social Work. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she facilitates social work field placements both domestically and internationally. Professor George actively engages in service at the university, serving as a committee member of the Interprofessional Education Committee (IPEC), SACS representative to the Education Technology Committee, and the Community of Educators (COE) Senate. She has also been appointed as the Experiential Learning Initiative (ELI) Service Learning Faculty Fellow. Professor George is a member of the Board of Directors for the American Board of Clinical Social Work (ABCSW), holds her Board Certification in Clinical Social Work (BCD) through the American Board of Clinical Social Work, and is a PA-licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). She continues to maintain an active clinical practice and is a clinical provider for several employee assistance programs. She has been married to her husband for almost 30 years, and they have two daughters. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, riding her Harley and horses.
