Next Steps for Accepted Dual Enrollment Students
Congratulations on being accepted for dual enrollment!
You're on your way to getting a head start on your college education. Please be aware that there are a few additional steps - highlighted here - you'll need to take prior to the first day of class.
Your Messiah University student identification number, or student ID, is located at the top of the dual enrollment acceptance letter that was mailed to you. An electronic copy of the letter is also available on your Admissions Status Page. You will need your student ID number to activate your Messiah University login and email.
Your Messiah University login will provide you with access to your Messiah University email as well as many resources found on FALCONlink, Messiah's student portal.
To activate your login, enter your Messiah University student ID (provided in your admissions letter) and birth date and follow the online instructions. You will receive your Messiah University email address upon activation. If you already have a working Messiah username and password, you can skip this activation procedure.
Familiarize yourself with multi-factor authentication (MFA). When you activate your Messiah University login, you will also need to follow Messiah's MFA process. MFA will help protect you from cybersecurity threats by providing a second form of authentication when you log into your Messiah account. It will be important for you to check your Messiah email regularly. Information from various offices will be communicated to you via this account. To access your messages, search FALCONlink for "Falcon Mail" and click on the star to add this card to your favorites. To access your Messiah University email, you will first need to activate your Messiah University login.
FALCONlink is Messiah University's student portal, where you will find your Messiah email, register for classes and more.
There are many other important items in FALCONlink so be sure to check it out. To access FALCONlink, you must first activate your Messiah University Login.
Course registration opens to admitted dual-enrolled students following registration for current, full-time students. Instructions on how to complete course registration will be sent via email a week or so before course registration opens to dual enrolled students.
- Spring Semester - Opens early December
- Summer Semester - Opens in April
- Fall Semester - Opens in July
Students who are taking a class with Messiah University for the first time are expected to attend a virtual orientation session for new dual enrollment students. We'll cover the items listed below (some of which are most relevant for students attending class on campus), as well as accessing Canvas, important dates/deadlines, FERPA, and more. Additional details will be sent to admitted dual enrollment students via email.
One of the reasons students like you pursue dual enrollment is the opportunity to earn college credits at a dramatically discounted tuition rate. But you may be wondering, how do I pay the bill?
The first thing to know is that you don't pay for your course "up front" at the time of registration. Instead, soon after you've registered for a course, a tuition charge will be applied to your student account. Once your bill is ready to be paid, you'll be sent an email (to your Messiah email account) inviting you to access and pay your bill online via Transact. If you would like to establish a payment plan, rather than paying the bill in one lump sum, you can.
It's also important to note that we do not send hard copies of bills via postal mail, and parents/guardians aren't sent a notification when your bill is ready to be paid. That said, you will have the option of inviting someone else (i.e., a parent or guardian) to access and pay your bill after you've logged in to Transact.
Finally, if you receive an outside scholarship from your school, a community organization, or another third-party, you can have these funds sent to our Financial Aid Office and they'll be applied to your account.
Textbooks can be purchased or rented through Slingshot, delivered to your home and billed directly to your student account. You may choose to rent or purchase textbooks through another vendor as well. For more information, contact the Campus Store at messiah@slingshotedu.com or 717-691-6024.
In order to obtain your ID card, send a JPEG photo of yourself, from your Messiah University email account, to falconexchange@messiah.edu. (Your photo must be forward facing, a full head shot, no hats or sunglasses and your eyes must be open.) Contact the Falcon Exchange, which is located on the second floor of Eisenhower Campus Center, to determine the best time to pick up your ID card.
If you are taking a class on campus, you'll be able to locate your classroom yourself by using the Campus Map. The buildings and parking lots are clearly marked so that you can figure out the best way to get to your class from your parking spot. If you're taking a class on campus, you'll need a parking permit. In order to obtain your permit, please fill out the "Dual Enrolled Student Parking Registration" form. After submitting the form, contact studentparking@messiah.edu to confirm when you should pick up your permit.
In order for University employees and officials to speak with your family member(s) about your educational record, a signed FERPA Release Form AND the creation of a privacy word are required.
- FERPA: Visit the Registrar Office's Student Rights and Privacy page, click 'Grant Access Here' and log-in using your Messiah University login to submit the FERPA.
- Privacy Word: Set-up a privacy word in the Challenge Response System (https://www.messiah.edu/crs) and share that word with your designated family member(s).

Dual-enrolled students should sign up for Messiah's text message alert system, which will send a text message in the event of an unscheduled closing or delay due to inclement weather, or other campus-wide emergencies. While Messiah's campus is safe, it is important to know the procedures in the event of an emergency.
