Summer intensive housing options
On Campus Lodging Options: Options and rates (charged to your student account) for Summer Institute on campus housing are publicized in late January each year. A link is posted on Canvas for students to sign-up for on-campus housing. Rooms are served on a first come, first served bases. Housing is typically available to students from Sunday to Friday, with check-out at 9am on Friday. Students receive their own room either in a one or two bedroom apartment or in a residence hall. Additional check-in and check-out information is available on Canvas once posted.
On Campus Housing Amenities: Graduate summer intensive students are housed in University’s undergraduate student housing.
· All residence buildings are air conditioned and have a laundry room in the basement. Laundry supplies are available in the campus store or can be brought from home.
· All apartments have individual kitchens (refrigerator and stove) and bathrooms and simply furnished living rooms. Dishes, pots, pans, and utensils are not provided. Residence Hall rooms (not apartments) have a shared communal bathroom and shared kitchen and lounges.
· Microwaves and coffee makers are not supplied. Microwaves are available for use outside of “The Falcon” coffee shop.
· Apartments and student rooms are not cleaned throughout the week. If your trash bag becomes full, you may ask for a new one at the Guest Relations desk in the Eisenhower Campus Center.
· Students should bring their own towel and toiletries.
· Students should bring their own linens (mattresses on campus are Extra Long Twin size – many use two flat sheets for the mattress if they do not have XL size already). The university will provide a pillow and blanket.
On Campus Housing Policies:
· Quiet hours: 10 pm – 8 am
· Messiah University is a smoke-free environment; smoking is not permitted on campus. If you must smoke, we ask that you do so in your car or off campus.
· The use or possession of drugs, other than for medical reasons, is strictly prohibited.
· The use or possession of alcoholic beverages is not permitted on campus.
· No pets are permitted on campus.
· All personal belongings and trash must be removed upon departure and the room left in clean and acceptable condition.
· The cost of any loss or damage to facilities and equipment will be billed to your student account.
· Graduate student housing is limited to current graduate students.
· Access Cards and Room keys should be returned to the Guest Relations desk upon check out. You will be charged a $5.00 replacement fee for access cards not returned and a $75.00 replacement fee for keys not returned. A room key may not be duplicated.
· Refund policy: a full refund is available if you check out within the first 24 hours. Otherwise, the full charges will remain.
Off Campus Lodging Options: There are many local lodging options—including bed and breakfasts, hotels, and motels—within a short distance of Messiah University. Note: There are no buses or shuttles to campus from off campus lodging options. Services such as Lyft or Uber may be available for those who do not have a vehicle.
After Hours Support: Guest Relations through Conference Services is available until 9pm. Additionally, the Department of Safety has uniformed officers on duty 24 hours a day, patrolling the campus buildings, grounds, and parking lots. In addition, Dispatchers are available 24 hours a day by calling 717-691-6005, or by visiting them on the main level of the Eisenhower Campus Center. If you need to contact a Safety Officer, please contact the dispatcher at 717-691-6005, and they will assist you in contacting an officer. Please note that residence directors who live in apartments within the residence halls are off for the summers. Guest Relations or Department of Safety are available to assist you.
