Graduate Assistant, Athletics Game Day and Operations
Position Summary: Assists the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Internal Operations to pursue our goals at Messiah University in athletics of striving for athletic excellence and developing Christian character. This is a two year, 20 hours/week commitment from approximately August 1st –May 15th each of the two years. Graduate Assistants are compensated equivalent to current tuition, receive a 10% tuition discount and are eligible for reduced on- campus apartment housing (when available) and a discounted employee meal plan, as coordinated through the graduate program.
Education Required: Bachelor's degree required; current enrollment in one of the degrees within the graduate program in Higher Education Leadership at Messiah University.
Experience Required: Previous experience with athletics events preferred.
Skills, Characteristics Required for Position:
- Desire to assist in administration of NCAA Division III intercollegiate program, including compliance, game day operations, and event management
- Possess strong organizational skills, including: time management, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and problem solve
- Possess good judgment, the ability to work independently with tasks being completed accurately and promptly, and the ability to take ownership of special projects as gifted and interested
- Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft office suite
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; possess good listening, judgement, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to be team player with athletics department personnel, work study students, student-athletes, and Messiah University community;
- Ability to establish appropriate and effective mentoring relationships with student-athletes;
- Desire to embrace and enhance existing programs and systems, and offer/initiate new ideas; take initiative;
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality;
- Christian faith commitment is required.
Special Working Conditions: Required to work weekends and evenings as needed.

Primary Duties |

1. |
Assist in coordinating game day management and special events for athletics including scheduling workers, communicating with visiting teams, and scheduling facilities. |
|
2. |
Communicate with the coaching staff, athletic trainers, sports information, compliance director, facility assignors, and department administrators (procurement, admissions, athletics) as needed. |
|
3. |
Be on site for the preparation and administration of home athletic contests. |
|
4. |
Maintain consistent, prompt, and reliable attendance. |
|
