Men's Lacrosse Position Coordinator, Graduate Assistant

Position Title: Graduate Assistant, Position Coordinator
Department:  Athletics
Reports To: Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach
Supervises: Student Athletes 

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Men’s Lacrosse Coach, the graduate assistant will perform duties related to the Men’s Lacrosse Program and be an active member of the Men’s Lacrosse Coaching staff.  This is a two year, 20 hours/week, appointment not to exceed 800 hours/year. Commitment runs approximately from August 1st – May 15th each of the two years.

Education Required: Bachelor's degree required; current enrollment in one of the degrees within the graduate program in Higher Education Leadership at Messiah University.

 Experience Required: Previous coaching or playing experience at the collegiate level.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the game of men’s lacrosse

  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of campus constituents
  • Christian faith commitment required

 Special Working Conditions: Occasional weekend and evening work as priorities demand.

 

Primary duties

Primary Duties

1.

Help our players learn the importance of working hard and giving a maximum effort to improve grades.

2.

Monitor and follow up on early alerts from faculty, advisors or other campus partner offices.

3.

Assist students in developing an educational plan and strategy to improve student success, including referring students to internal programs for additional support services and follow up as needed.

4.

Assist coaching staff in developing practice, game, and individual workout plans.

5.

Assist Head coach in developing Scouting reports for each contest and be able to communicate scouting report to team in a practice setting.

Assist Head Coach with position coordination.

7.

Participate in the planning and implementation of all  team events

8.

Assist in all camps and clinics hosted by the team unless otherwise asked.

9.

Assist with Fall and Summer recruiting.

10.

Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.

 

 

 

Secondary Duties

1.

Hold film sessions with student athletes.

2.

Help players in one-on-one training sessions.

3.

Other duties as assigned.
