Pharm D. Qualifying High School Students

This program is open to current high school students who are accepted and plan to attend Messiah University and met or exceeded the following requirements:

• high school GPA of 3.0 or higher on an unweighted 4.0 scale;
• combined SAT score of at least 1240 on the evidence-based reading & writing and math composite requirement; OR an ACT score of at least 26
  • Students without SAT/ACT scores will either have to complete LECOMs MMS program with a 3.0 GPA or higher, or score a 500 on the MCAT for the medical program, or,
  • Students with low SAT/ACT scores can opt out of the MMS program or MCAT, if their AIS is 115 or higher for the medical program, AND
• have completed at least 20 hours of documented pharmacy-related experience by the time of their interview at LECOM.
• Prospective students who fall into this category must interview with LECOM before graduating from high school for a provisional acceptance into the LECOM / Pharm.D. program.

Other Details:

• Application is initiated by the current high school student through this LECOM link by March 1 of their senior year of high school.
• High school students should contact Martha Stigelman, Coordinator of Pre-Health Professions Advising for additional EAP enrollment requirements.
• High school applicants are required to interview during their senior year of high school with a LECOM representative prior to March 1st. Interviews are in-person; either on a LECOM campus, in an offsite location, or by videoconferencing.
• Students accepted into the LECOM EAP Pharm.D. program as high school seniors will receive a provisional acceptance letter to this program.
• In order to maintain their LECOM EAP provisional accepted status, as Messiah students current high school seniors will be expected to meet the GPA and shadowing, submit all required information to LECOM in a timely manner, and to participate in the "keeping in touch" activities initiated by LECOM.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.

Required undergraduate courses:

• 6 Credit Hours of English
• 8 Credit Hours of Biology including labs, minimum
• 8 Credit Hours of Inorganic Chemistry including labs
• 8 Credit Hours of Organic Chemistry including labs
• 4 Credit Hours of Physics including lab, minimum
• 3 Credit Hours of Stats
• 3 Credit Hours of Calculus
• 3 Credit Hours of Economics (macro, micro or general)
• 3 Credit Hours of Psychology or Sociology

Requirements to Matriculate to LECOM:

At the time of graduation from Messiah University, students must reach or exceed the following benchmarks:

• Overall GPA of 3.3/4.0
• Science GPA of 3.1/4.0
• SAT score of at least 1240 on the evidence-based reading & writing and math composite requirement; OR an ACT score of at least 26
  • Students without SAT/ACT scores will either have to complete LECOMs MMS program with a 3.0 GPA or higher, or score a 500 on the MCAT for the medical program, or,
  • Students with low SAT/ACT scores can opt out of the MMS program or MCAT, if their AIS is 115 or higher for the medical program, AND
• SAT (Math + Critical Reasoning) ≥ 1240 OR
• ACT Composite Score ≥ 26
• 75 hours of Pharmacy-related experience by the time of their matriculation to LECOM. (High school shadowing hours are included in this total.)
• Students are not required to take the PCAT, but they are required to submit a writing sample.

• The time that it takes a student to earn his/her undergraduate degree from Messiah University varies. Some students are able to complete the degree in fewer than four years depending on a variety of factors including summer school attendance, AP test scores and college dual-enrollment during high school. Regardless of the timing, the undergraduate degree must be completed prior to matriculating at LECOM.

• A grade of at least 'C' is required to transfer prerequisite coursework.
• No required class should be taken P/F
• Required classes should be taken at Messiah University unless approval is granted.
• The undergraduate portion of this agreement is Phase I. Phase II begins after transitioning to LECOM.
• At least 75 hours of documented pharmacy-related experience must be completed at the time of matriculation to LECOM.
• Provisionally accepted students may not apply to any other pharmacy school. Application to another pharmacy school will result in the loss of the student's provisional acceptance.
