Cascade CMS

Cascade CMS is the content management system (CMS) used to build and maintain the Messiah University website. It provides a structured, secure environment where departments and offices can manage their web content while maintaining consistency with the University’s overall brand, accessibility standards, and web strategy.

The Messiah website includes more than 150 subsites representing academic departments, administrative offices, programs, and initiatives. Because our website serves as one of the University’s primary communication and marketing tools, shared responsibility and clear ownership are essential.

Site Ownership and Roles

Each subsite must have:

  • A designated Page Owner (or decision-maker): This person is responsible for the overall accuracy, strategy, and direction of the site’s content. They determine what should be published and ensure information remains current and aligned with departmental goals.

  • At least one trained CMS Editor: This person may be the owner or someone the owner designates. Editors are responsible for routine updates such as:
    • Revising or adding text

    • Updating links

    • Posting documents

    • Making minor structural or formatting changes

Editors must complete Cascade CMS training before receiving access to ensure best practices for accessibility, usability, and consistency across messiah.edu.

Clearly defined roles help ensure content stays accurate, timely, and aligned with University standards.
