Media, Culture and Technology

Messiah’s major in media, culture and technology offers you a strong understanding of mass media’s constantly changing culture. Building on a strong foundation of communication knowledge, you’ll develop the technical and production skills needed for a career in television or radio.

As a media, culture and technology major, you’ll:

• Choose from two concentrations: media production and media management and research

• Explore courses in media culture, media management, various production skills, writing for mass media, media history, and media law and ethics.

• Apply your broadcast production skills on campus through The Pulse: Media Hub, which includes WVMM 90.7 FM radio (with a 20-mile broadcast radius) and brand new facilities featuring a television studio complete with fully-equipped control room (slated for opening January 2015), as well as off-campus through a variety of internship opportunities in television, radio, video production, and more.

• Have the opportunity to double-major, minor, study abroad, participate in cross-cultural courses, and gain additional hands-on, practical experience.
