Messiah’s major in film and media arts focuses on helping you develop as a filmmaker and industry professional by grounding you in aesthetics, theory, history, writing, and production skills. Taught by gifted scholars that also have significant industry training and experience, you’ll engage in stimulating theoretical discussions as well as hands-on projects that hone your filmmaking, editing, and production skills.

 

As a film and media arts major, you’ll:

 

  • Acquire training in digital editing, 16 mm film production, cinematography, basic directing, and screen writing
  • Work and learn in Parmer Cinema, our beautiful campus screening facility (Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, 16/35 mm and digital media promection, 134 person capacity)
  • Explore topics in new and digital media through constantly updated coursework that reflects industry advances
  • Spend one required semester at the Messiah College Philadelphia Campus (partnership with Temple University)
  • Hone your professional skills with a required internship in Harrisburg, Philadelphia, or at a major film studio (Sony, Warner Brothers, Universal, or Paramount) through Temple's LA Film Studies Summer Internship Program
