Dance at Messiah

Dance is movement and rhythm, expression and technique, fitness and form.

And at Messiah College, it’s also worship.

If you desire to major in dance and pursue a career on stage, or you want to dance publicly as an expression of worship, or you wish to continue honing your skills, Messiah can accommodate your goals.

Dance performance and ministry

In the classroom you can take dance classes to work towards a dance major or dance minor. Dance classes also help to fulfill your phys ed credits. Dance courses are taught by professional dancers and focus on history, technique, artistry, and performance.

Beyond the classroom you can select from a variety of dance options – there’s the new dance performance ensemble, a fun and lively Swing Dance Club that meets weekly; the student-led dance team, Acclamation, that practices and performs everything from ballet to flags and jazz to modern; and ministry teams—Da Blazin’ Footprints, God’s Kingdom Steppers, and Spirit Force—that travel and perform at churches and youth events.

So, whether perfecting your pirouette in ballet class, performing hip-hop moves with Da Blazin’ Footprintz creative arts ministry team, or choreographing a sequence for an Acclamation performance, Messiah College provides plenty of opportunities for you to learn, fellowship, and perform with other dancers.
