Education: A.A., Hesston College B.A., Eastern Mennonite College M.A., University of Kansas M.Phil, University of Kansas Ph.D., University of Kansas Research & Writing Interests: Southern literature, particularly William Faulkner and Flannery O'Connor Courses Taught: Selected Works of American Literature Literature and the Life of Faith American Literature before 1900 Modern American Literature Modern British Literature Literature Seminar Faulkner and O'Connor English Novel Personal Statement: I enjoy teaching a wide variety of courses in American and British literature, with a primary focus on modernism. My area of academic specialty is Southern literature, particularly Flannery O'Connor and William Faulkner. In addition to teaching I have served on many committees, including the Community of Educators Senate and the Academic Council. Recent Academic Work: "Community and the (Formerly) Amish Professional: A Narrative Study" Presented at the Humanities Symposium, Messiah College, Spring 2004. Department Highlight: Enjoying intense interaction with senior students in Literature Seminar as we engage issues of literature, faith, and vocation. Favorite English Activity: Having continuing contact with English graduates through many years. Fun Fact: I have officiated at the weddings of a number of students and graduates.
