Messiah Distinctives

 

Group of Students

 

 

  • Messiah has produced graduates who have distinguished themselves as Rhodes, Fulbright, Carnegie, and Truman Scholars (1998-2008).

  • Messiah’s most notable alumnus, Dr. Ernest L. Boyer, served as U.S. Commissioner of Education under President Carter and held additional national commissions under Presidents Nixon, Reagan, and Bush (George H.W).

 

  • Messiah’s accounting students were ranked seventh in the nation and first in Pennsylvania in passing the CPA exam, placing ahead of the Wharton School of Business (2007).

  • Messiah’s nursing class obtained a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examinations (NCLEX), one of only three institutions in the state (2006).

 

  • Messiah’s elementary, early childhood, and special education graduates passed the Praxis Series assessments, an exam required for obtaining teacher certification in Pennsylvania and many other states, with a 100% pass rate (2007).

  • Messiah was ranked 11th in the nation for sending students to study abroad by The Institute for International Education in its Open Doors Survey (2007).

 

  • Messiah’s men soccer team has won the Division III National Championship in five of the past eight years.

  • Messiah was named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction. This award recognizes exemplary commitment to service-learning and civic engagement. Messiah College joins 126 other institutions earning the Honor Roll with Distinction award (2007).

 

  • Messiah graduate Jonathan Bean’s first children’s book, At Night, was included on the Publisher’s Weekly list of the “Best of 2007.” He was also named as one of the magazine’s “Four Fresh Children’s Book Talents.”

  • Messiah’s business department had four students win the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Regional Financial Literacy Competition-2007. Messiah’s SIFE teams consistently place in the top 40 nationally.
