Activities for Commuters

Q: I’m a new commuter student. Do I need to participate in all the Winter Orienation Weekend activities?

A: Though there are a few parts of the schedule that are specific to residential students (e.g. Residence Hall meetings, etc.), a majority of Welcome Week activities are geared toward all incoming students.

Q: When should I come to campus?

A: Many of the activities on Thursday, January 30 occur in the afternoon and evening, so we recommend that commuter students plan to arrive between 1-3pm to check in at Larsen Student Union. There you will receive a number of important materials, can pick up your student ID, register for parking, and take care of a number of other logistics. There are also sessions throughout the afternoon that we invite students and families to attend (see schedule below). We also highly recommend attending the Opening Session & Worship and Prayer of Dedication service, which is followed by an opportunity to connect with your Orientation Group - a place to get to know fellow incoming students and connect with a few upper-class student leaders.

Q: What about the rest of the schedule?

A: Below, we highlight a number of events that are critical to orientation at Messiah, and we hope to see you there! If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to contact the Office of Student Involvement & Leadership Programs.
