Whether you are interested in biomolecules or ecosystems or everything in between, the Department of Biological Sciences at Messiah University offers you the opportunity to tailor your study of biology to pursue your interests and calling in a distinctly Christian context. The department offers a choice of majors and concentrations that seek to provide you with an understanding of the sciences that will enable you to pursue a range of post-graduate options, including graduate school, medical school, the allied health field, or immediately seek employment in a variety of settings in industry, business, education and government.
The unique advantage of studying biological science at Messiah is that you'll work in the context of a Christian liberal arts education. Thus, while investigating the world around you, you'll also study yourself and the Creator. The department places special emphasis on integrating the knowledge and methods of the sciences with what Christian faith teaches about people and their place in the universe. Additionally, the Central Pennsylvania Forum for Religion and Science, hosted by Messiah University, regularly sponsors a variety of events to promote a better understanding of religion and science.
